How to deal with 2020!

By John Soforic on 03/16/2020

“Tough times don’t last but tough people do.” – Robert Schuller

Introduction to a Series

Until the corona virus pandemic passes, I’ll be sending these daily seeds to help all of us – myself included – to make the best of it. In the turbulent times of a crisis, the goal is to maintain your direction and learned from it.

It’s been said that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. Well, with all due respect to Friedrich Nietzsche and Kelly Clarkson and, that’s just total B..!

It is very possible, even common, for people to be broken by adversity. People are broken when they lose their focus, their confidence, and their will to fight no matter what to reach their aspirations.

I wrote a book to teach a philosophy of achievement that works in the real world. The Wealthy Gardener is about your personal power. The theme in the book, and in my own life, is that we have more than enough potential to get what we want in life, if we use our fullest powers as human beings.

And so I will be using this crisis of 2020 to empower you. In the book The wealthy Gardener, the main character says that “the way to a larger garden is to outgrow the one we got.” The same rule applies to growing a larger life.

It’s been said that tough times don’t last, but tough people do. I have found this one to be true in my own life. This corona pandemic will surely pass, but it can teach us lessons. These times can prepare us for tougher times ahead.

I’ll do my part to send daily messages to help you stay the course during these turbulent times. If these messages are helpful, I ask you to PLEASE forward them to family and friends. We’re either all in this together, or we’re not.

Your Purpose for Wealth

By John Soforic on 03/11/2020

“Find a cause more important than comfort.”

Lesson 4-1 Daily Seed: Purpose

A purpose for wealth beyond hoarding is vital to sustain the ongoing persistence needed to acquire it. What drives you to sacrifice for wealth?

For me, I wanted to live without a job so I could use my time for other pursuits, and I also felt a deep need to provide security for my wife and kids.

Why is it vital to know why you want it? Because the climb to wealth is a not always glamorous ascent. It’s sometimes a journey of sacrifice and inconvenience backed by a cause more important than comforts.

“Life becomes harder for us when we live for others,” said Albert Schweitzer, “but it also becomes richer and happier.”

Money itself may not be enough to motivate your sacrifices, but sending your kids to college may get you moving. Escaping poverty or debt may be reason enough to give up your leisure. The dream of freedom can inspire you to work harder and amass wealth. But what would you do with that freedom.

You must find the answer, because it’s your motivating driver.

When we discover what makes us tick, we will find our full power. A deeper cause fuels the persistence behind the sacrifices of achievement.

Stretch Yourself Every Day!

By John Soforic on 03/09/2020

“It’s not about what you get, but who you become.” – the Wealthy Gardener

Lesson 3-6 Reminder: Personal Growth

The impossibilities of today can be the realities of tomorrow if you’re willing to stretch. To expand your life, you must expand your mind.

And it’s the best reason for having big goals.

The way to a larger life is to outgrow the one you’ve got. Set impossible goals, and then apply yourself in your hours to activities that cause an impact for their realization.

Big goals are not about what you get, but who you become.

“In my own life, when I was thirty, I couldn’t imagine being financially free. But I set a goal for it anyway. And it led me into challenges and personal growth.

Start with a goal of prosperity––and I mean an exact amount of money––and give it a completion date. Then grow yourself to be worthy of it.

And remember, the way of nature is growth or death. When a plant stops growing, it then starts to die. We should always be stretching ourselves.

The Seasons of Wealth

By John Soforic on 03/06/2020

“Impatience only adds misery to a wonderful life.” – the Wealthy Gardener

Lesson 3-5 Reminder: Wealthy Seasons

Life will test your patience. For most of us, it’s good to keep in mind that wealth building is a journey that slowly unfolds in three seasons.

In the first season, we aim for financial stability. We learn to earn, and to stand on our own. We’re happy to be able to pay the bills. The future is bright with an expansive time horizon. Optimism is high. We expect a great life.

In the second season, however, our finances become serious. Adults discover the need of accumulating money. We sacrifice to amass savings. And we figure out how to invest our savings so that it earns money and grows on its own.

The final season of wealth consists of the fall harvest—the retirement that we have earned during our working years. Our lifestyle then is based on money in the bank, people in our lives, and a lot of interests to occupy our time.

What’s my point? Be patient while doing your best. Impatience only adds misery to a wonderful life. It’s best to know that wealth unfolds in seasons.
