Ask and You Shall Receive

By John Soforic on 12/06/2019

Dreams are lost for want of asking. – the Wealthy Gardener

Lesson 4-52 Reminder

Video transcript: “You get in life what you have the courage to ask for,” said Oprah Winfrey. To get what you want, ask for what you want.

You want more out of life. You want security, fulfilment, adventure, and a sense of direction. You want power over your conditions.

And these desires are awaiting your request.

I once wanted to go on a retreat, by myself for a week, maybe to the desert. And that’s not an easy thing to do when you’re married.

I approached my wife. I explained to her why it was important to me, and she told me to do it. Simple as that. I asked and I received.

Questions open doors. They give us options.

“Learn to ask for what you want,” advises Peter McWilliams. “The worst people can do is not give you what you ask for which is precisely where you were before you asked.”

You need to ask others for what you want, but even more important is asking yourself. The questions you ask yourself define your limits.

How can you take that dream vacation? How can you get physically fit despite your busy schedule? How can you change your career?

“Ask and you shall receive” may not be an absolute maxim. But not asking is surely the absolute way not to receive.

What do you want in life? What do you need in your life, or a part of you will die? If you don’t ask for it, the answer is always “no.”

Making an Impact

By John Soforic on 12/04/2019

We must focus on impact statistics to direct our work on the winning. – the Wealthy Gardener

LIFE LESSON 4-51 REMINDER

You know that you were born for more than just showing up and living an average busy life.

And so you want––in fact, you need–– to make an impact.

Every day, there are work hours and there are free hours. And it is the use of these passing hours that determine the impact of your life.

And so how will you use your hours? If you really want to make an impact, it’s wise to consider two questions that are vital to your results.

Ask yourself this: If you had only two hours today, which tasks would you do? What activities matter most to make an impact?

A second question may help with clarity as well: Which activities, if ignored today, would allow for bad consequences?

Take time to ponder these questions because your future depends on it. You may have the ability to reach your dreams, but your ability doesn’t matter if you don’t effectively use the hours of the days.

“Follow effective actions with quiet reflection,” said Peter Drucker. “From the quiet reflection will come even more effective actions.”

Being busy means doing stuff. Being productive means getting stuff done. Being effective means getting the most important stuff done.

What is your dream? And what actions move the needle?

Discipline Will Earn Your Dreams

By John Soforic on 12/03/2019

If you will only dare to dream, and then endure with discipline, you will stand out among the masses. – the Wealthy Gardener

LIFE LESSON 4-50 REMINDER

“The one quality which sets one man apart from another—the key which lifts one to every aspiration while others are caught up in the mire of mediocrity—is not talent, formal education, nor intellectual brightness,” said Theodore Roosevelt. “It is self-discipline. With self-discipline, all things are possible. Without it, even the simplest goal can seem like the most impossible dream.”

I never enjoyed the daily pain during the years I built my wealth, but I was rewarded by conquering it.

Always know that you have the discipline to do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, even when you don’t want to do it. You’re big enough to swallow your pride. You’re smart enough to resist laziness. You’re focused enough to use each day to better yourself.

Success may be hard. But so too is mediocrity.

Among all disciplines, there is one that governs the rest. It is the easiest of them to perform and perhaps the easiest to forget as well. It is the discipline of living with daily purpose.

Just write your goals today. Draw them on paper. Commit them to memory. What does success look like to you now, and in five years?

You need to know it, or you’ll never get it.

Brian Tracy said, “Your ability to discipline yourself to set clear goals, and then to work toward them every day, will do more to guarantee your success than any other single factor.”

You’ll live your dreams tomorrow due to your discipline today.
